What is the Universal Travel Pass?
An e-pass service for local travel has been launched in Mumbai and the state government of Maharashtra has developed a Universal Travel Pass system for obtaining e-passes. The Maharashtra State Government has also provided a website for the same.
The state government of Maharashtra has started an e-pass service with effect from 15 August 2021 to allow travel for both the doses of the corona vaccine. The state government of Maharashtra has developed a Universal Travel Pass system to make e-passes easily available to the general public.

- It will only be made for three purposes: medicinal, utility, and education.
- Through this, the government wants to provide all facilities of medical facilities and education to all.

Who can get Universal Travel Pass?
To get Universal Travel Pass, you need to fulfill the below mentioned criteria
Both doses of Covid-19 i.e. corona vaccine should be taken, and after taking both doses of corona vaccine, the waiting period of 14 days should be completed. Universal Travel Pass can be obtained after fulfilling both these criteria.
How to apply for Universal Travel Pass online?
To apply, first you have to go to the online portal. Whose link is – https://epassmsdma.mahait.org
Then on the right side, under the Citizen option, click on Universal Pass for Double Vaccinated Citizens. (Note that the page gets refreshed in 1 minute, so do it a little sooner)
If you want, you can change the language of the page to Marathi or English.

After that the mobile number will be asked, here you have to give the same mobile number, then you had registered on COWIN while applying the vaccine. (Note that this page lasts for 3 minutes, after that it will refresh and you will have to do the same steps again.)
After giving the mobile number, you will receive an OTP (One Time Password) on your mobile.

After that, information about register and vaccine is received from your mobile.
If you have taken both the vaccines, then after 14 days have been completed, then you will get the option of Generate Pass.
After clicking on Generate Pass, your information will appear on the screen and you will be asked to upload a photo of you whose size should not be more than 3MB.
After uploading a good photo of yourself, you have to click on a check box and then click on Proceed.
Your Universal Pass will go through the process and you will get a message on the screen that within 24 hours your Universal Pass will be ready and you will receive the message. But as far as my experience is concerned you get the message within 5 minutes.
As soon as you will receive the message of Universal Pass. You have to login again in the same way with the mobile number and OTP received on it.
Where you get a new option View Pass, click on it and you get the option of Download Universal Pass. As soon as you click on Download, your Universal Pass will be downloaded in Pdf format.

How to get monthly pass of local train?
You must show the Universal Pass (e-pass) saved in your mobile at the ticket window when you come to the railway station to get the monthly pass. Then you will get a monthly pass based on that for traveling in the local train. This method does not need offline verification. Once the e-pass is received, a person who has taken two doses of the vaccine and has completed 14 days will be able to travel by train in Mumbai.
The state government of Maharashtra has also stated that there is no need for separate verification because of this link. A person who has received two doses of the vaccine but has not completed 14 days will still get his pass after 14 days.
